Leeds candidates

Candidate A

Candidate A is friendly, confident and enthusiastic. This candidate has lots of good work experience already, after having worked in a primary school as a teaching assistant, as well as an activity centre for disabled people. They are now looking for a business apprenticeship to develop their career further. Candidate A is ambitious and sees themselves as a bit of a natural leader, and in 5 years’ time, they want to be at business management level. They are motivated by earning as they learn, and gaining lots of new skills. Candidate A has just finished college after re-sits for their Maths and English GCSE at college, and is confident about achieving a Grade C this time around. This is a pleasant, motivated and dynamic candidate who communicates very well both over the phone and by email.

Candidate B

Candidate B is pleasant and conscientious individual, whose ultimate aim is to climb the business ladder and grow with a company. They have just left college, where they have been studying AS Levels, in English Language and Literature, and Media. Before this, Candidate A achieved good GCSE grades, all B’s and C’s, including a B in English and just missed out on Maths gaining a D. Candidate B is very pleasant, reliable and ready to go to interviews at short notice. Candidate B is always drawn to the more challenging roles I can offer, and I think they have a keen desire to do well. They have a good telephone manner, and I think they would easily come out of their shell in good time. This is a reliable candidate who will be a solid team member,

Candidate C

Candidate C is a very pleasant individual who has just finished their AS Levels in Phycology, Sociology, and Health and Social Care at Sixth form. They are predicted impressive B Grades in their results. They also passed their GCSEs with everything at Grades A – C. This included an A in English and a C in Maths. They are now very keen to get into business and have some good transferable skills in customer service already, after working in a takeaway part time while studying. They also have great leadership potential, as they are a Scout Leader in their spare time, after having been dedicated to their Scouts club for several years. The ideal role for Candidate C would be something in administration, as they are very organised and hardworking.
 


 

West Yorkshire candidates

Candidate A

Candidate A is a confident, bubbly individual who is looking to find an apprenticeship where they can gain skills, develop and grow. Candidate A achieved some good results at school and gained C’s in their GCSE’s and is currently finishing their level 3 college course in Health and social care.
They are keen to be in “the real world” earning, getting a qualification and learning valuable skills they need to be successful in the long run. Candidate A is currently working at Matalan, they started August 2016 as a customer service assistant. They have developed excellent customer service skills and are confident handling trickier customer and situations.  
My dealings with Candidate A have been great, they have been quick at getting documents back to me and seems very reliable so far. This candidate described their biggest strengths as being reliable, hard-working, good with people and confident. Candidate A is looking for a role that will give them the opportunity to meet and speak with new people and enjoys a challenge.

Candidate B

Candidate B is a friendly and very likable. They are looking for an apprenticeship because they think they will learn a lot more on the job whilst gaining the qualification.
Candidate B described their skills as being confident, good communication, practical and very reliable. Candidate B appears very bright and seems very sure about what they are looking for in an apprenticeship, they appear extremely mature. Candidate B hasn’t had much work experience due to been so focused on their education so far. However as part of their college course they ran a project which involved making Christmas related products and selling them onto Leeds Kirkgate market with the aim of making a profit. They really enjoyed this and now fancies themselves as a bit of an Alan Sugar in the making. I think candidate B has a lot of potential and would be a great addition to your team.

Candidate C

Candidate C is fantastic, they have excellent communication skills, presented well, good solid academics and a solid work experience background to match. Candidate C is in the process of completing their level 3 business studies course and is expected a distinction* (top possible marks).
This candidate also achieved good results in their GCSEs gaining Cs across the board. Candidate C is looking for a challenging apprenticeship where they can develop and gain new skills and give a good insight into the practical business world.
Candidate C has been working for the last 18 months part time. Their current part time role is at KFC. Their role prior to KFC was at McDonalds. Although not overly glamourous they have learnt some very good skills from this sector. They have gained some good face to face customer service skills, learnt how to work in a sometimes pressurised/busy environment. This candidate has no desire to go on to university and believes they would benefit more from getting their foot in the door within an apprenticeship. I was really impressed by candidate C they seem to have a really mature approach to work, they also had a very strong telephone manner and I genuinely enjoyed getting to know them.



West Midlands candidates

Candidate A

This candidate is confident, punctual, well-organised, committed and ambitious individual. They see themselves as someone who likes to get stuck into a task and complete it but they are also proud to say they are never afraid to ask questions if they need help. This candidate has a good set of GCSEs with an ECDL in ICT. They also have good work experience and understand the importance of being positive and upbeat at all times in order to retain customers and win new ones. This individual has a good level of self-awareness, My main strength is that I am an extremely motivated person who likes to complete tasks. I also fit within a team easily as I am very confident and outspoken. I also handle changing/fast-paced environments well, so I enjoy taking on new challenges. Another strength of mine is that I am very speedy on computers! So, for example, when working on spread sheets and word, I can easily type 80 words a minute.

Candidate B

This candidate has achieved 10 GCSEs (Mostly B’s/C’s) and is a mature individual who is really interested in working within the property sector. I would like to improve my negotiation, sales and marketing skills in order to draw more customers in. This will allow me to further assist the Lettings Manager and maximise the overall income and profitability of the branch. This candidate is keen to find an apprenticeship where they can grow and develop and be successful, they come across as very confident and this is down to their army cadet experience. This individual has been in the cadets since the age of 12, by the age of 14 they were promoted and since then they have been picked out for leadership opportunities on various mountain expeditions in Scotland and Wales, which has boosted their confidence in more.

I have good experience working in a team and I have found that I am good at building rapport with both customers and employees. I know this because as an instructor I was able to lead a group of individuals on a mountaineering course, on which I had to take into consideration other people's abilities. This allowed me to quickly build trust and utilise their strengths to best complete the course and despite parts of the route being moderately difficult or dangerous, it was completed with everyone being satisfied and in high spirits. This individual has a natural flair with computers and is confident with all aspects of Microsoft office. They also have experience of teaching others how to use Word and Excel.

Candidate C

This individual is a very positive person and a great team player with good communicator skills.  They have been involved in football coaching for many years and they have also worked for Marks and Spencer’s Simply Food.

At the moment they are participating in Street League - a charity which helps young people find work, as well as offering them football coaching. This candidate is proud that they achieved seven good GCSEs (mostly B/Cs) as well as an A* in IT. They also gained a Level 2 Football Diploma for the work they did with Tottenham Hotspurs, which they are equally proud of. This candidate is keen to find an apprenticeship because they want to gain professional office skills in a business where they can progress. With their positive can do attitude this individual is someone who gets along with everyone. From working at M&S I found out that I really enjoy helping people."

Candidate D

This candidate has achieved 5 GCSEs, they are a well-spoken and confident individual and they possess the ability to demonstrate a range of skills, such as being able to work well in a team and can also communicate effectively. This candidates enthusiasm is noticeable and they are determined to secure an apprenticeship.

This candidate has said they would like to start work so they can build on their skill set and extend their knowledge of working in a professional environment. This candidate is a practical individual, in school their favourite subjects were Physical Education and Business; thus a more hands on environment would be most suitable.

In their own words, My main strengths are working within groups and also I am also able to work on my own.  Another good character trait of mine is that I am able to learn new things quickly. This candidate has customer service experience working in a retail based environment and has gained more confidence as well as the strength of being able to work coherently under pressure. This individual believes they are perfect for working in a customer service environment because they understand the needs of customers and how business is driven.


 

North East candidates

Candidate A

This candidate has achieved some good GCSE grades including grade C for Maths and grade B for English and health and social care. They identify their main strengths as being organised, punctual and having good communication skills. Candidate A has completed some work experience whilst completing their education throughout GCSE and level 3, this includes working in a Nursery working with a range of children and for a week within a Primary school assisting a range of different teachers within the classroom. They have also worked in a hotel as a receptionist during their year 10 works experience. Candidate A learnt how to be professional within the workplace and completed tasks such as meeting and greeting guests, answering the phones and helping other team members with other tasks.

Candidate B

This candidate is currently sitting their GCSE examinations at the moment and is predicted amazing grades including a C in Maths and a B in English, along with a B in both ECDL and Computer Science – showing their great IT skills and knowledge of different software’s. Work experience wise, unfortunately this candidate has not been able to gain any work experience due to her only just leaving school this year and their school not completing a work experience placement program. However, they view this positively as they are very keen to get into the world of work. Candidate B expressed their ability to confidently interact with people and use various computer systems as some of their main skills. This candidate also feels their sociable attitude, great attendance and punctuality make them a great member of the team.

Candidate C

Candidate C is currently completing their GCSE’s and is predicted some great grades including a C in Maths and B in English. While still in school, they have been able to improve their skills while completing various work experience placements. These include; working at a local primary school where they completed tasks like helping both children and teachers, communicating with other members of staff and keeping the environment organised, and while volunteering within the PHAB organisation which creates opportunities for disabled adults and youths. This candidate  believes that these transferrable skills will make them a great apprentice due to their ability to effectively communicate with clients. Candidate C believes their main strengths include their ability to work both independently and as part of team, due to their  friendly but hardworking attitude.



 

East candidates

Candidate A

This candidate describes themselves as a mature and well-mannered individual, they are also academically capable, this is reflected in them achieving 11 GCSEs graded A*-C. This candidate has previously worked as a Trainee Dental Nurse. Their organisation skills developed whilst working as a Trainee Dental Nurse as they had to arrange observation notes to a high standard to learn new pieces of information. They also gained basic administrative experience, but would like to develop this even further. This candidate also has customer service experience from working in retail, duties included: Stock rotation, assisting customers, producing labels and personal shopper for customers.

Candidate B

Focusing on the core subjects this candidate achieved GCSE grades: English Literature (A) English Language (B) and Maths (C) This candidate has previously worked in a busy retail environment for 6 months, after 2 months of employment they were promoted. This candidate knows how to work effectively in a fast-paced environment whilst delivering great customer service to members of the public. They are looking for an Apprenticeship to gain experience and to keep educating themselves.

Candidate C

This candidate studies their GCSE at Witchford Village College where they chose to study: Geography, Media Studies and Religious Studies. They then progressed onto Cambridge Regional College to Study Level 2 in Business Administration but soon came to the realisation that they work better in a working environment and want to gain an apprenticeship as it will enable them to carry on educating themselves. This candidate feels an apprenticeship role would be a great start for them as it could lead to great future prospects and kick start their career.

 


 

Essex candidates

Candidate A

RM2 - They are a hardworking young candidate with excellent communication skills. They are a friendly young person who is looking to develop themselves as a person and develop key skills which will help them in the future and feels an apprenticeship is the perfect way to get their foot in the door. They have had a range of administrative roles, working briefly in HR, Estate agents and a surgery, they learnt valuable skills in administration and feels these would be transferable to an office role. Along with this I feel the candidate has key skills in place which can be develop further and make them a key member of the team.

Candidate B

EC2N – They are a polite and dedicated individual who regards themselves to be responsible, bubbly, communicative and good at problem solving. They have had 6-7 months previous experience within Retail, here they developed their Customer service skills to a high level while also developing their time keeping and organizational skills. The candidate is looking to complete an apprenticeship because they feel they can continue their educational journey, whilst also gaining experience in an office role. They have achieved GCSE Grade B in Math’s and ICT and an A in English. When speaking to the candidate they came across as polite and confident on the telephone.

Candidate C

SS0 – The candidate is a polite and communicative individual who regards themselves to be a punctual and organised person who has a very good telephone manner. They like the fact that an apprenticeship offers key experience within a great company but also offers them the chance to continue learning and gaining further qualifications as they enjoys learning new skills. They have had previous work experience within customer service while working within a garden centre working on the floor and behind the cashier desk. They have also previously worked in a nursery where they helped look after the children and organised activities.

Candidate D

CO1 – They are a dedicated individual who regards themselves to be hardworking and a real team player. They enjoyed their time at school and is happy with the results they achieved which include A’s in English and Maths and a C in ICT. They have had previous experience within Retail where they developed their customer service skills to a high level. They have also previously worked within an office environment where they performed administration duties including filing, scanning updating spreadsheets, the candidate has expressed they enjoyed the office environment a lot more than retail, and is looking for an exciting opportunity and feels an apprenticeship within an office would suit their personality and is looking to get an apprenticeship to start a career and develop their future.



South East candidates

Candidate A

This candidate is an organised and reliable individual who considers themselves to be confident and customer focused when in the work place. They feel that their main assets are the fact that they can work in a team but also can work using their own initiative. This candidate enjoys participating in group discussions and developing relationships between colleagues and customers. In their spare time, this candidate enjoys spending quality time with their family and friends.

This candidate enjoyed school but feels like they would benefit from the qualification and experience that is provided during an apprenticeship. The lesson that this candidate liked most at school was Childcare as it was different to the day to day core subjects. This candidate has had some good work experience for their age where they could boost their confidence, obtaining excellent customer service and gain a good telephone manner- this was through working in a Salon helping in the running of the business where their duties would range from answering the telephone and booking in clients to making refreshments for the customers.

This candidate is very eager to take on an apprenticeship as they want to learn more about what is required to be a successful member of a team and start their career. The candidate feels the role with this client is perfect given their organisation and reliability. I personally think this candidate would be very well suited to the role and would enjoy working with this client. This candidate is currently based in Windsor.

Candidate B

This candidate regards themselves as an enthusiastic, determined and motivated individual. They can work well in a team and equally as well using their own initiative which shows their motivation to do well is within themselves and not the people that they are surrounded by. The candidate has carried out 11 months of Customer Service experience which means they are comfortable speaking to new people and has a confident telephone manner. Picking up this experience, they believe they can utilise this previous experience in an apprenticeship and how to handle situations when there is an element of pressure.
 This candidate feels as though their main assets are their dedication to completing work to a high standard when given a time frame, the motivation to work hard and their punctuality. If they could outline one weakness, this would be their office based experience. They have not yet had any office based experience, however, I believe this candidate can mould through the culture of the company allowing them to pick up key traits.

The candidate enjoyed their time at school but now feels like a change will be very beneficial to them. In their GCSE exams, they got a C in Maths, C in English along with a C in IT. They achieved 100% attendance at school which shows that they are dedicated and committed as well as being reliable. They are competent in using Microsoft Packages and believes this can benefit them when carrying out an apprenticeship.

They’re very eager to take on an apprenticeship as they want to gain valuable work experience in an office based role as well as working towards a recognised qualification. I believe that this candidate would be a successful apprentice due to their confidence and willingness to learn.

Candidate C

This candidate considers themselves as a strong and reliable individual. Their academic abilities show that with the right support and training they have all the possible skills needed to achieve and be successful in the job role. The candidate feels like their organisation skills and their ability to work well with a variety of people are the main assets and allow the candidate to create a good relationship with their colleagues. The candidate also prefers to use their own initiative in situations where they feel able but also has the confidence to ask if they need help. In their spare time, this candidate enjoys walking their dog and socialising with friends.

This candidate thoroughly enjoyed their time at school. They particularly loved Maths, where they achieved a grade C which demonstrates this candidate is successful when solving problems and looking at situations with a logical approach. This candidate also achieved a grade C in English and ICT which highlights their communication and written skills along with their ability to navigate through Microsoft Office Systems such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

This candidate has had previous experience within the Business industry at a previous company where they took on the role of an Administrator. The candidate’s main duties included formatting CV’s, answering the telephone, responding to emails and advertising vacancies onto the company’s website. I believe this candidate can utilise this experience to benefit the candidate.  They have a keen interest working within a well-established company and would like to work up within the company, and I believe that with the correct support and guidance, this candidate will become a successful apprentice. This candidate is currently based in Slough.



South West candidates

Candidate A

This candidate considers themselves to be a confident and excellent communicator, who enjoys learning new things and thrives in challenging situations. They have strong IT skills with experience using all Microsoft packages, including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.  and achieved a BTEC in IT.

At school, they enjoyed the social aspect as well as the educational side as well as the core subjects. They achieved a Grade C in both Math’s and English making them academically strong. They come across as a very confident individual with experience in helping customers and taking orders in a local café and arranging fundraising events for the RSPCA. They have experience in speaking to businesses and being involved in running the event on the day as well.

They particularly enjoyed the customer service roles but feels their skills are wasted and would be better spent in a more professional business environment. They have some good experience already and a lot of potential to go from strength to strength.

Candidate B

This candidate regards themselves as an outgoing, enthusiastic and hard-working individual. They stated that they are a very confident individual and although it may take them time to adjust, they are a fast learner and would be thriving in no time.

Previously having an apprenticeship as a child-minding assistant, they left due to a hip-injury meaning that working with Children isn’t an option for them. Having now returned to full health, they are keen to re-start her career. Since, they have completed a week’s work experience in a hairdresser where they had to answer the phone and take bookings as well as meet and greet customers.

This candidate believes that their previous experience has helped their personality and confidence when talking to others and now regards themselves as a very confident individual. They have a very strong interest in the position of a Customer Service Administrator and I believe they have a lot to offer.
 
Candidate C

This candidate’s main assets include their academic capabilities, work ethic and enthusiasm. They have excellent experience working in several varied professional environments. One of which was at KLASS women’s clothing store where they were a customer service assistant.

They have also worked in multiple cafés and coffee shops. With their previous experience in Customer Service, speaking to customers, taking orders and building a rapport with each, I believe this candidate would be an asset.

Their hard work is reflected by their GCSE grade B in English Language and C in Maths. The idea of an apprenticeship is very appealing to them as they want the security of a career whilst earning a qualification. Evidently, this candidate has worked in Customer service roles and enjoyed their time spent speaking with people but they feel that there is a lot more they can offer.

 


 

North West candidates

Candidate A

This candidate considers themselves as an all-rounder. They have recently completed English Language at A-level and have previous office based experience. The candidate believes they have good communicational skills, are hard working in nature and can use computer systems effectively making them an ideal candidate for any administrative role.

Candidate B

This candidate believes their main strengths lie in their academic qualities, achieving 2 A’s in English and the rest B’s at GCSE level. As it stands this learner hasn’t worked in the past as they felt it beneficial to focus their time on their studies to get the best possible GCSE results. I feel this candidate would require some work to get them to meet their potential but with a solid academic history, its likely they would pick things up quickly. They are keen to develop their confidence and communication skills in an office based apprenticeship.

Candidate C

This candidate has a very bubbly personality. If you are looking to bring some life into your office, a candidate who is hard working in nature, has customer service experience and can boost the morale of the team may be perfect. They consider their use of initiative, organisation and communication skills as three of their main assets allowing them to work under pressure and pick up new skills quickly.

Candidate D

The candidate has some sales experience working in a call centre where they would generate interest in the company’s services and pass it on to the sales team to close. At school, they were punctual and enjoyed Business as a subject and is keen to gain a qualification to help them achieve the career they desire. This candidate is very academic highlighted by achieving B & C Grades across the board, in English, Math’s and ICT. They are looking for a fast-paced environment where they can put their skills to good use.

Candidate E

This candidate considers their work experience to be their biggest assets, having worked as a server in a pub, customer service in an office based role. They are keen to carry over the skills they learnt in their previous roles into a new role within an office environment. This candidate achieved D grades at GCSE but certainly compensates for this with their work experience and attitude.
