The levy is charged at a rate of 0.5% of an employer’s pay bill. Each employer will receive an allowance of £15,000 to offset against their levy payment and can be managed through the Digital Apprenticeship Service.
If you do not pay the Apprenticeship Levy you will need to reserve apprenticeship funds through the Digital Apprenticeship Service. Funding must be reserved in advance of the apprentice starting to ensure that there are funds available to support training and assessment costs. Reservations will need to be made by the employer and ideally before the decision has been made to start an apprenticeship programme.
